{"id":31,"date":"2024-02-28T16:16:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T16:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quantzedition.org\/?p=31"},"modified":"2024-03-01T15:36:09","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T15:36:09","slug":"the-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantzedition.org\/index.php\/2024\/02\/28\/the-project\/","title":{"rendered":"The project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Guido Ivessich has launched in 2022 an editorial project focused on the figure of Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773) in view of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the death of the composer and flutist, an eminent figure in the European music scene of the late Baroque.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/armoniaantiqua.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Quantz_by_Gerhard.jpg\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Quantz_by_Gerhard.jpg\" width=\"139\" height=\"185\" \/>The target of the project\u00a0 is to transcribe in modern notation from the original manuscript sources and make public on this website\u00a0 the entire corpus of the composer\u2019s music consisting of:<\/p>\n<p>1. more than 180 Sonatas for solo flute and continuo and about 45 others attributed to him;<\/p>\n<p>2. more than 50 triosonatas for two solo instruments (flutes, violins, etc.) and continuo;<\/p>\n<p>3. more than 40 solos, duets and trios for flute without bass;<\/p>\n<p>4. 6 quartets (quatuor) for flute, violin, viola and bass;<\/p>\n<p>5. about 300 concertos for flute and string orchestra;<\/p>\n<p>6. about ten concertos for many instruments and string orchestra;<\/p>\n<p>7. various works for voice, instruments and continuo.<\/p>\n<p>The reference basis for the project is the Quantz music catalog published by Carus-Verlag in 1997 by Horst Augsbach entitled\u00a0<em>Johann Joachim Quantz: Thematisch-systematisch Werke verzeichnis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The original manuscript sources are found in various libraries in Europe, the main of which is in Berlin, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Preussischer Kulturbesitz, which owns over 90% of the original manuscripts.<\/p>\n<p>The second source considered is the S\u00e4chsische Landesbibliothek \u2013 Staats- und Universit\u00e4tsbibliothek in Dresden, which preserves almost all of the triosonatas.<\/p>\n<p>Another important source that has original manuscripts is the Danish royal library in Copenhagen, the Det Kongelige Bibliotek, which contains over thirty sonatas and all the pieces for flute solo within the Giedde collection.<\/p>\n<p>Last of all, 26 concertos considered lost in Augsbach\u2019s catalog, are preserved in the National Library of Russia, Saint-Petersburg, shelfmark Rus-SPsc fond. 956.
